Pōkeno Totara Cask

Pōkeno Totara Cask is an innovative New Zealand single malt whisky finished in handcrafted native totara barrels after initial maturation in first‑fill bourbon casks for a unique flavour profile.

This expression is part of Pōkeno Whisky’s Exploration Series, showcasing the distillery’s creativity and commitment to NZ innovation. After full maturation in first‑fill bourbon casks, the whisky is transferred into locally made totara wood barrels - handcrafted at New Zealand’s only working cooperage - for additional maturation. This rare totara finish contributes creamy and complex aromatics on the nose with notes of coconut, sweet scented sap, ripe white peach and freshly cut wood, followed by flavours of bitter lemon, stone fruit and subtle dark chocolate through a long and sweet finish.
