Pokeno Whisky crafts bold, flavourful New Zealand single malt whiskies using local barley and pure volcanic spring water, aged in carefully selected casks.

Founded in 2017 by Matt and Céline Johns, Pokeno Whisky Company is dedicated to showcasing the best of New Zealand single malt whisky. Located in a misty valley just south of Auckland, the distillery combines locally sourced South Island barley with mineral-rich volcanic spring water. With long fermentation times, slow distillation, and a focus on unique cask maturation, Pokeno produces distinctive whiskies that express the local terroir and innovative spirit of Aotearoa. The distillery offers a core range including Origin, Discovery, and special limited releases.
